She managed to capture many candid pictures of volunteers.
It's raw, haunting, and beautiful.
Thanks again to the thousands (read over 17 thousand estimated) that came down
with their brooms from home and those that donated their time
supplies of all types, water, trucks to carry away the junk
providing wood planks to cover windows
their smiles and most of all
their love for the city.
LOVE VANCOUVER!
I somehow have a feeling that should this have happened in US, there wouldn't be ANY volunteers for clean up--- wait... didn't this happen in LA when the Lakers won something awhile ago??
ReplyDeleteSometimes I'm embarassed to be of the human race.
Good for Vancouver!!
@Kas - Thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a emotional few days in the city.
From the devistation to the support and love the citizens of the city show it.
I couldn't imagine living anywhere where this would take place and no one would come to the rescue. That's disgraceful.
My whole life I've known how fortunate I've been to live on the edge of a continent and be able to ski, surf, golf etc all in the same day.
It's not a saying, it's true. There is a reason its said BC is our backyard.
From the interior to the lower mainland, any mountain is never more than 20-60 minutes away. The ocean, inlets, and lakes are the same.
Come for a visit. I would love to show it off.
OMG--- that is SOOOOO tempting!! BUT, I don't have a passport OR a birth certificate~~ Do you still need one or the other to visit? I have a DL!!! Does that count??
ReplyDeleteI'll have to see--- start saving my pennies!!
If flying, you're required to have a passport.
ReplyDeleteIf you're crossing theboarders by water or land, you can travel with an Enhanced drivers licence, but not guarnteed to get thru. Dont ask me why they give you the option to travel that way if its discresional to allow entry.
I don't have a valid passport either (ya ya Peter I'm on it...) must get on it.
