Apartment Update - Wrong Man. Who Knew?

You know how I wrote about my shady property owner in October?

I've tried myself to drain the dishwasher, with no avail. Today, I thought I'd follow up to see what their plan of action would be. It's been 13 days and no matter how often I run the dishwasher, it ends up with an inch of water in the bottom.

In the 9 years I've lived there, the owner has never once replied directly to me, or taken any of my calls. As angry as I can get, I always do my due diligence when writing letters, and I'm always professional on the phone. Today, he took my call. He was polite, and sincere with the matter at hand. Even pulled up a copy of the letter I wrote. There was absolutely no attitude from this guy.

And as it turns out, he mentioned what the superintendent told him, and what my letter says, do not exactly match up.

Great.

Turns out the property owner is not the problem at all. It's the middle man.
He's asked me to run a few small tests on the dishwasher, and if the results are still negative, he'll send his crew in right away. No cost. Nor will I be held responsible if I make the matter worse by running these tests per his request.  He even took the time to respond to previous complaints and concerns I've enquired about.  Oh, and looky here, he did reply. To the superintendent. Who never passed it along to me.

I've been bitching about the wrong man for the last 7 years.
(Jim has only been the super. for 7 of the 9 years I've been there)

I've decided moving forward, I'm going to cut out the middle man completely, and deal directly with the owner. I'm highly annoyed that the superintendent would do this. I'm not going to mention I know any of this to him. I'm just going to cut him out.

I can not tell you how relieved I am, that I was wrong about the owner.
Jim is on my shit list now.

I HAVE BedBugs

First of all I’m a clean person. My apt is clean, well tidy and gets cleaned often.
I went to the island a month ago and upon my return I have been bitten 14 different times in 4 weeks.
ENOUGH ALREADY!

I’ve researched the hell out of this and have done everything so far I can, aside from using sprays in my apt.

There is nothing in my bed, box spring; I’ve taped up any holes (the one in the spare room where the ferret entered)

I slept on the couch last night and woke to 3 new areas of my body being eaten.
So it’s in the couch. I’m heading out at lunch to pick up some ecofriendly sprays that came suggested from Bedbuggers.com
I’ve read forums etc, and it turns out bedbugs is an issue in Vancouver… WTF

They don’t cause or carry diseases, but 1% have been reported to have carried a type of hepitis.
GREAT! Although they can live in their hiding spots up to 92 days without feeding… and we thought cockroaches would be the longest living thing on the planet!

So this weekend is a bust, I’m going to being doing laundry, laundry, and oh wait, MORE FRIGGIN LAUNDRY! Spraying down all baseboards, cracks, couches, bed, and the underside of anything that is fabric in my apt.

They don’t hurt, until you actually start scratching, and they are just unsightly to see on your body.
I’ve been fortunate enough that anywhere they have bit me; I can cover up with clothing and reach myself with a lot of calamine lotion.
