Jamba Jamba

This commercial is from a couple years ago.
The song lifts my mood everytime.
Plus the birds are cool.

And here is the full version of the song.

Dear Rain, You Can Go Suck It Already!

The rain can just go suck rocks now.  Even for a born and raised Vancouverite living in a rain forest this is becoming just a tad ridonkulous. Yes REDONKULOUS!

It would be easier for me to tell you how many non-rainy days we've had than to explain how long it's been raining.  Probably shy of a dozen days we've had non rain, even less for how many we've had with the sun out.  So Dear Rain, Please go suck it, I think we're good til the middle of summer. Love, Just Saying.

I love falling asleep to the sound of rain pounding on the roof and tapping the windows. It reminds me of camping. You can not hear anything else but the rain, and I often imagine in my head that the swooshing sound cars make passing two blocks down are really the waves rolling in against the shore from a short distances away.,,,,, ZZZZZZzzzzzz sleeping.  However, getting up in the morning (5am in my case) and hearing that thundering rain, was enough for this morning for me to do a quick pro/con list in my head of staying home today or dragging my ass out of bed.

Waaa waaa waaa in my head and it always comes down to this. If I'm not actually sick, I go to work.
It's better I do not take a truly unnecessary day off now when I might need it later. Then I'd be kicking myself.  I have a fairly good work ethic about me.  I come to work, ON TIME (rarely ever late due to my own accord).  Sure there are days where you're not sick but a mental health day is needed.  I've taken those and I've been straight up with my boss when I do it.  I advise her that there are no pressing deadlines, credit cards to reconcile, oversea wire transfers etc to do. Basically I'm caught up. Not that I'm really ever super busy, but I do have daily deadlines.  Those are the days when I know I wouldn't be able to compose myself professionally or appear emotionally stable.  Thankfully those days do not come often. The last one was in July 2010 when I lasted 9 days on Yaz Birth Control.

Laying in bed I tried to justify a reason to stay home. Couldn't do it and the longer I laid in bed trying to convince myself to get upset or sick in the next 30 seconds as I hadn't gotten out of bed and was not running late. I had to get out of bed and rush to catch the 6:30 bus.  *ugh*

It's just one of those days. I want to stay curled up in bed, pop in a movie and just veg, nap, soak in the tub, veg with more mindless fluff chick flicks and have a blissful day doing nothing. Extra points if I had a warm male body that smelled yummy to snuggle with.

I've been at work 3 hours now (it's only 10am) and I swear to gawd someone has switched out the regular coffee with decaf. Yes ladies and gents, I'm drinking regular coffee today and do not for one second believe there is caffeine in it. Maybe I need to step it up and directly insert the coffee IV into my arm. Ya that's probably it.

I Don't Like You Right Now.

Everyone has managed to royally piss me off lately.
Instead of giving you the big run down of what is going on, just know I'm so.not.impressed. with anyone.

Right now my chosen family is under complete review right now.  It's just occurred to me that they are MY chosen family, however, I may not be theirs. 7 years later and their latest stint (in addition to the last couple holidays) has made that fact much more evident. I'm not their family. So, I will get a new one. Period. Done.

Now taking applications to be a sole part of my chosen family. Bring your family dynamics with you. Apply within.

I also noticed how rarely I use my call display on my phone. I really need to start utilizing that or change having that option up with another one.  I took a call from the Douche on Saturday. *sigh* and the more that shit head opens his mouth, the more and more I think blackmailing his ass in exchange for my silence, seems like a good idea. I AM going to present him with the option of buying me the following items below in order to not tell his finance (not that it will really matter, she'll stay with him) that he is perusing me and who knows who else for sex.

I want the following items:
My two everyday perfume
Clinique Happy Heart for Women

Clinique Happy in Bloom

And for my feeling sexy perfume (any of the following will do, although I do want all of them at some point)

Very Irresistible by Givenchy

Ysatis by Givenchy
and last but not least
Opium for Women by  the design house of Yves Saint Laurent

In addition to the perfume I want these boots
In this colour and/or black.

'Piper' Wide Calf Boot by Jessica London

I think that should cover it for quiet awhile......

I'll let you know the outcome of my proposal to him.  Who knows, he might surprise me and say no, and stay the hell away from me. Somehow, I doubt it.
Besides all that, I think everyone is incredible stupid today....just saying.

Friends are my chosen family.

Over at The Restaurant Manager he posted an entry about being keeping it 100% honest. He wrote about loving his in-laws but not really caring for them as people as they do not see eye to eye on a lot of things. And how he viewed others at one point.

This struck a strong cord with me. As I actually had a dream of being somewhere with my 5 siblings (all older) and giving them the 'what for' and what I really thought of them and their actions, or lack thereof, towards me. Extra rudeness for my one sister in law who has never once in all the 29 years she's been married to my oldest brother has had one single positive thing to say, ever. Seriously.

I spent many many many years trying to connect with my siblings as I'm 12 yrs younger than the next oldest, and 19 years younger than my oldest sibling.  About 5 years ago, I stopped making the effort. It was emotionally taxing to beat a dead horse into reciprocating interest in you or your life. That is until I neglected forgot to call any of them on their birthdays or send Christmas cards. Well, wouldn't you know it, they all called me. Not out of concern in the sudden decline of calls, but to bitch at me that I didn't call or make the effort.  WTH are my siblings? Really? I can not remember the last time any of them remembered to call me on my birthday or called to wish a marry xmas or gawd forbid, just because.

My youngest sister to me (12 years older) has always looked down her nose at everyone.  I've disliked her for a very long time. But she is my sister and don't "they" say, in the end you only have your family? Ya, well my friends are my chosen family. Thank you.

So you can see why I do not make the effort any longer to get their acceptance or a relationship from them.  When asked what stick crawled up my ass etc. I replied I"m simply reciprocating their efforts. Haven't heard form the one sister in two years.. oh darn.

The other point I wanted to touch on.  The all high and mighty stool I stood on once. Well not exactly, but I did lack understanding of others situations before.  My whole life I've been elite fit. An athlete. I spent time people watching and observing others, and often wondered why they couldn't lose weight. Why they worn certain clothes and didn't make more effort in their appearances etc. Never judging them for it, but I did not understand it.  Then my mum passed away and I gained 80 lbs in 9 months. That is a lot of weight to pack on, it's an adjustment to the body, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially.

I had taken a job with an automotive parts company and although they were great while I grieved, the pay was shit. I could only afford to live in crummy places with questionable landlords and neighbours. Now, being on the plus size of weight, I saw the look on peoples faces as they looked at me. (mostly strangers).  Having to buy clothes much more frequently than before (partly cos they would get ruined at work) it was a large strain on my already fragile state of mind.

I soon understood what it meant to be on the other side of that line.  Not everyone can afford to even get to work, let alone make enough to live, have shelter, food, clothes etc. For many of them, it's one or the other, not all of it.  What I still wonder about at times, is, if these people are down on their luck and granted the gov't does very little to help people get out of the welfare or EI system, wouldn't they have that hunger to strive to do better? Or are they stuck in the position due to lack of education. 'Get more' you say?  Sure easy to say for someone who can afford it. But those who live pay check to pay check, where do you think they will get the extra funds to go to school, when some of them may be working several jobs just to get by?  Then there are those who are fully capable financially, emotionally etc, but are simply lazy.

I soon changed jobs and ended up working at a gym. For the first couple years it was a blessing in disguise as I could work out for free.  I managed to lose about 20 lbs and hated every minute of the gym, however I loved the results. Learning from co workers and my trainer at the time, not everyone can lose weight. It's not always about being lazy or eating poorly.  It goes much deeper than that for some.  Thyroid, pre exposed gene or disease prevents them from being successful.

It's many years later and I'm now employed with my 4th job in 23 years. I'm still a plus size, making more money than before, have better friends than before. Still have issues with my siblings. Although they seem to call once or twice a year to say Hi. Realizing I will not be making any efforts anytime soon.

Very recently a current co worker who lacks tact in every way imaginable said to me on the elevator "You'd be healthier if you took the stairs", in a special snarky tone she saves for those she talks down too. My first reaction was to put my fist in her mouth. Instead I gave her a hard look and replied calmly, "I'm out of shape, not unhealthy. There is a difference and for you to assume otherwise shows how ignorant you truly are."  This only subsided her comments for a few months. Somewhere deep down inside of her she might have meant that comment and all others with the best intentions. But I doubt it.  It actually came to a point this past Christmas, I asked why she felt so inconvenienced  by whether or not I took the stairs.
She did not reply, just kind of shrugged, probably rethinking her decision to reply in her own best interest.

We do not see eye to eye. If she asked me questions without a snarky tone or talked to me as though I was beneath her some how. I might be more inclined to tell her why I do not take the stairs as often as I could. But will not dignify a response when its asked as though I owe them a reason.

I ran away with this a little, mostly cos I'm worked up thinking about my siblings and their lack of sense of family. Not to mention above said co worker is standing in the vicinity as I write this. maybe her ears are ringing?

If February/March over yet? It's tiring to be bitter.

April Bloom - Check her out.

A guy I met in the beer gardens at Pride Vancouver 2 years ago,  just posted this on facebook.

April is a friend of his. This is her very first YouTube video!

Very sweet sounding. Cute little song.

Check it out!
Like it? Tell her on YouTube or blog about it.

Birthdays

It's a friends birthday today and while I enjoy saying Happy Birthday, something about people wishing themselves a happy b-day via social networks or announcing it in public for more attention, bothers me.

I might need a new way to think about, look at, view this differently. If my friends remember my birthday and say something, great. If not, I'm not pouting that no one remembered. Even when facebook notification does it for you, great, if you mention something to me, nice, if you do not, no harm.  Maybe it has something to do with the fact I do not like being center of attention. It causes me to become quite shy, introverted and anxious. Let me rephrase that.  When surrounded by close friends etc, it's all good. However if my friends try and draw attention to me via telling strangers at random it's my b-day, something about that shuts me down.

Two years ago, we went out to see one of my favorite bands play for my b-day. It was low key and everyone I was with were low on funds that year.  One friend mentioned to a band friend of mine that it was my b-day and of course he would sing happy birthday to me etc.. but I denied it was and he got the hint. (gawd bless him for being a good judge of character). No songs were sung in my honour.

Although that same friend, come his b-day, announced to everyone, no matter where we were with, "It's my birthday!!!" Almost like he was fishing for random compliments that he made it this far in life, or wanted something for free. That kind of shit embarrasses me.

There is a good way, casual way, to bring attention to it, and there is the fishing for attention way.

In addition too not really caring that anyone mentions a birthday wish, I will never plan my own party. Ever.
There is also something incredibly rude about friends suggesting 'we all do something for your b-day' and leave it to you to plan it.  I will not.  I was at the receiving end of a phone call a few years back from a ex-friend bitching me out that I had let HER down by refusing to plan something.  I explained to her with no apologies for the rudeness I was about to unleash upon her, that it is not my responsibility to make a big deal out of it, when it's not my thing. If my friends want to celebrate my life, great, I'll show up. Tell me when and where.  In my mind, that's the equivalent of taking someone for a b-day dinner, then asking them to pay for it themselves. Rude.

I respect my friends when they say, they would love to go to dinner, or do nothing. I do not force them to change their minds to benefit me, it's their day and I will honour what they like. If you're happiest hanging with a few close friends doing whatever, fine, that it your right on the day you were born. If you want a big party, tell us or drop a few hints, and we (your friends) will make it happen. You just show up when you're told too.

Not sure why I feel this way. I've had no horrifying b-days. Okay I have had a few... very disappointing ones, but I was already in this mind set before hand.  How do I change the way I feel about not celebrating or being excited about the day I was born? It's just another day, isn't it?  I use to send flowers or get a card and a treat for my mum on my b-day. She did all the work to get me here.

As I'm writing this, it occurred to me that maybe I started to feel this way after she passed away 11 years ago.  I did not have her here to celebrate her anymore, so why should I celebrate the day at all?

Am I the only one?
Am I a freak of nature cos I do not get my jolly from announcing to people for attention it's my birthday?

I promise to try some REAL ITALIAN FOODS....I promise...

My last posting provoked some rage in my oh so good friend Elizabeth Singleton so much, she wrote her own posting about it.

If you have not had the privilege of reading her blog, you're missing out and I strongly suggest you go there now..... ready? Set......GO!

In addition, I forgot to add the following foods to the list of things I will not eat.
*Ice Cream
*Whipping Cream
These are not avoid by choice but by a must.   Although I did splurge and tried the Shamrock Shake two weeks ago. All the pain afterwards, was worth every single moment of that yummy milkshake...

I don't like Italian Food.

We all have foods we're not huge fans of, but will eat it from time to time. A conversation yesterday asked me what I won't eat, and what will I eat but it's not my first choice.

What I won't eat?
Liver.   Haggis & cow's tongue. Nope. Not going to happen.
Those are 3 foods I grew up eating. Granted real haggis isn't all that bad as long as you do not ask too many questions. Would I eat it now? Nope.

What will I eat but it's never my first choice?
Italian food. There I said it.  I'm not a huge fan of pasta's. I have my moments, but it far and few between.I like spaghetti, but it's only a couple times a year. Although if it's made by Italians, then I'm more likely too enjoy it when I do eat it. Hence I rarely make it at home.

I much rather have Greek food over Italian.

I can not live without cheese, green olives, salt, meat and seafood.  If I was allergic to any of those, I'd have to jump off a building. I'm not afraid of much food. I will try everything once, twice to be sure, unless the first time was a horrible experience.

This question is now forwarded to you readers.

What will you NOT eat?
What will you eat but it's never your first choice?
.....Go!

April 8th last day

I gave my notice at the museum. It was well received, and although the curator's look did not believe my reasoning. He flat out asked if there was any other reasons for the departure.... hinting at Crazy C.

I replied there was nothing more than being too tired to give them my time while on the Accutane. (which isn't a complete lie). He knew I was leaving cos he is.  He ensured me that we'll be in close contact til my return mid November.  And should he be working in another location by then, to call him and he'll make sure the new person is aware of the all/any situations.

I have April - November to myself. :)

I had a dream about The Royal Douchebag over the weekend and woke up very disgusted at his existence.We're not FB friends, but something told me to block him from searching my name. So I did. Did not question why my mind was telling me this. Not even 12 hours later the text msg's started rolling in. One more lewd than the last. I'm saving them. Haven't decided if I'm going to blackmail him in exchange for my silence.

Of course I will not do this, and if I did, I'm sure Elizabeth Singleton would hop on a plane and come kick my ass for even giving him the time of day, or a reaction on any level.  I'm going to continue to save the messages in case I get a wave of uber bitch run thru my veins.  Then I can always forward them to his fiance. What? Oh Please, it's not like she'll even dump him, she likes his money too much.

Spit in my food. We asked for it.

I went out Friday night with one of my couriers. This is not unusual for me to befriend my couriers and/or reps as I see them everyday, several times a day, in person, or by email.

We made plans to go for sushi near my house as she was driving. There are sushi bars on every corner like there is a Starbucks. What can I say? We Vancouverite like our coffee and sushi.

I hadn't been to this place in years, although it having been one of my local favourites for years before.

One thing I must explain about eating sushi in the lower mainland. Sushi is a hit and miss type thing.
You can either have great service and crappy food in a clean environment, or amazing food with crappy service and cleanliness that is questionable. You CAN NOT have both. I've yet to see it.

Of course I'll take the crappy service with amazing food every time.
We sit, and it takes a consider amount of time to get menu's.  I'm in no rush, although I am starving.
Two servers in a small restaurant that could seat 20 ish people easily. One chef up front, who knows how many in the back.

We finally get our menu's, order the first round of food.  As we're chatting away it's becoming increasingly noticeable that the two servers are very unorganized.  After ordering and menu's are taken away, the other server brings up menu's and asks us if we're ready to order.  I smile sweetly at her, explaining we've already ordered, but thank her and we'll keep one menu to order from as we finish each round. But to ask us if we're ready to order when you drop the menu's off? Easy now...

The first round comes, yet our drinks do not.  It's been a good 20 minutes, it's not busy, but the girls are flustered for whatever reason.  Soon the dinner rush starts and those poor girls running around with their heads cut off. Had I been in a rush, I would have been very annoyed with them. However my annoyance increased from the behaviour of my courier/friend. She stands up, waving her arms at the staff, snapping her fingers, cos she was ready for another drink. Great. If I could have slouched down into my bench, I would have.

This repeated a few more times. Each time I advised courier/friend that we were not in a rush and to relax. These girls are clearly having a hard time and you snapping your fingers at them will not help us one bit.
I would not be surprised if they spit in our food. Not one bit. It becomes no surprise they can not hear us when courier/friend shouts at them to get their attention or that their already broken English has less and less English the more this all happens.

Over the 3 hours we're there.. didn't I say we weren't in a rush?  I tried to counter act the rudeness with being overly polite.  Granted I was slightly annoyed that we had to ask when the very first item we ordered was going to be ready, as we'd finished 3 courses already (2 hours later).... shit happens.

Had that been my first time there, I wouldn't return. However the food is amazing and I will not make the mistake of going there again with courier/friend.  I found myself wondering if she is like that all the time or was trying to impress me somehow?  Found myself unimpressed and probably ingested more spit than I asked for.

Leaving the Museum

After learning the curator may be leaving us, my first instinct was to leave myself. I listed the reasons here.

Since then, I've thought about a few things. What if he doesn't leave, doesn't get the new position at the other museum? Do I stay?  At first my first reaction was going to be, 'of course I'd stay if he does'. I would be wrong. Taking into account even if Crazy C wasn't there, I do believe I've lost interest for the time being.

I try not to make rash decisions without over thinking it first.
*Does Crazy C play a role? Surprisingly no.
*Am I actually enjoying the work? Most of the time, albeit, it's dull more often than not.
*Am I just tired of giving 4 hours every Friday after working a compressed work week? Yes. Just tired.
*Does it being Volunteer play a role?  Sometimes, but no. I knew this was a non paid gig.
*Am I getting anything out of it? Yes. Different skills, community relationships, a stalker,  networking contacts, references, feeling good about giving back to something I have an interest in. Knowing I had a small role in making the bigger picture possible for public awareness, and education roles.
*Is it more of a break I need? Most definitely.
*How long should the break be? No idea. A few weeks? Longer?
*Will I use that new free time for anything? For a bit, no. Probably use it to make some extra money for a few weeks/months.
*If the curator does leave, and I'm gone before the newbie arrives, will they take me back or will I need to reapply? No idea. To be discussed with the current curator.  I mean it's a 'break', not my resignation.
*When will my last day be? Today? Or April 8th? (I'm off April 1st). Maybe make it the 8th and give them the option of saying today is okay?

These are the things I've been thinking about since Wednesday. Two whole days. lol  Most would think 'it's a volunteer job, just quit.' It's more than that. It is a job. One I treat with respect and professionalism.  Never know how these networks could open a door for me down the road. These are people who have connections with people of status and influence throughout the city and neighbouring cities. So, it's not just a volunteer position that I can quit on a whim. Can't just walk in and announce I'm leaving. It would be professional to give a written resignation or notice of temporary leave of absence, then be in regular contact with the team.

Yes, I over think. I do this cos I tend to react in the heat of the moment of the emotion I'm feeling at that time.  This way, I've giving myself time to reflect without haste to ensure I'm making a sound decision. I practice this with personal relationships too. It's not always possible, however when it is, and I can control  how much time I have, I take the time.  As it were, I'm getting my ducks in a row.

In the other parts of my life, I'm pretty relaxed, roll with it, spontaneous at times. It's all about balance for me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok ducks are in a row.. here is my letter.
(this area has all the standard formal address headings etc)
It is with my sincerest regret to inform you that I am requesting a temporary leave of absence for a few months for undisclosed reasons. This will be effective April 8th as my last day.
I’d very much like to thank you for the opportunity you’ve provide me, to be part of a community full of history and to contribute behind the scenes in the small role that makes the bigger picture possible for public knowledge. I look forward to staying in close contact with you, continuing to attend the volunteer Victorian Dinners and returning to the museum mid November, should you welcome my return from this temporary absence.
I am still available to be reached by email or phone during this absence from the museum to assist with any projects where you may be short of people to complete tasks with a shorter deadline.
Thank you again for this opportunity to be part of something great.
Sincerely,
(signature here)
Me.
Museum Volunteer - Curatorial Department.
Yhea for google and having a template of any possible letter you could ever need to write.
:-)
.............so, what do you think? Think they'll take me back?
Wickaninnish Inn - If only I could live there.
If I succeed at making it to the end of this Accutane cycle, I'm going to treat myself to a weekend HERE At the Wickaninnish Inn in my favorite spot on the planet.. Tofino, BC.
Its stupid expensive. I've stayed there once. Two nights ocean view while spending inheritance.
In short all I can say, it was magical. There are no other words.
I had gone winter surfing alone, and after a week of staying at the hostel and getting my ass thrown around like a rag doll by mother nature just trying to paddle out, not to mention how much of the ocean I was forcibly fed thru my nose (ah saline cleanse),  I treated myself on a last minute decision on my way out of Tofino. They were kind enough to accommodate me as I did not have a reservation, nor was I staying the minimum 3 nights. Cried the whole time in awe of all the beauty.....and wine. It was the best $600 (got a deal) I'd ever spent on two nights.
To lay in the soaker tub with bubbles of course,  wall to floor ceilings over looking waves crashing at your foot, was, blissful. Truly amazing. To lay in bed, fireplace roaring, drinking myself silly, again, watching the waves til I fell asleep and to wake up to the fire, sans any wine left, and the waves still going....in a word, magical.
Now I have to try and convince my friends that spending $200-$300 dollars each for 3 nights, 4 days for a loft (sleeps 4-6) is a good idea.
Pull-Ups
I had to go jean shopping last night. :(
For the most part I like shopping, when it's a want....not a need. Although certain items I would just rather not. Bras, bathing suits and jeans. And I went alone!!!! That's like breaking some unwritten rule or something.
I went to three plus size stores where I've had success in the past and slowly came to realize I'm not going to get what I want, as all the pants over a size 12 (regardless of the store) are now made in what's referred to as "Comfort Fit". Really?  Really want to know what that is? They are fucking maternity pants!
Yes ladies and gents, I'm wearing maternity pull-ups.  Why? Cos the fashion industry seems to think all fat people are not privileged enough to wear pants with zippers!!! I seriously hope sales plummet so fast and they realize these pull-ups are not where it is at.
Now, I like the way the jeans look. I picked up two pair on sale. However I really hate how they feel. I feel like I'm wearing undergarments or my grandparents pants. Seriously.  Jeans have a non flexible front that usually holds all the goods in place if you have a pouch.  These "comfort fit" do not, which feels like I'm more exposed with my girth than I've ever felt in the 8 years I've been a plus size gal.
I'm not impressed in the least. Actually quite pissed off.
It's no secret I'm a plus size girl. I won't be this way forever and I've always bought clothes to fit my body as it is now. In short, even though being heavy sucks, I've been fairly secure with the way I feel about my body and myself as a whole.
.....Today is another story all together. For the first time in the 8 years since I've been bigger than a size 8/10,(my fittest 8/10) I feel unattractive, exposed, and heavy.  No, I feel obese. I feel like I don't look like I'm just overweight, I feel like I look obese. I can not wear pants with a zipper. Nope, it's not allowed now.  The only pants I can wear now have an elastic fucking waist line!!!!
Seriously, to all those Brands Addition-Elle. MXM, Penningtons, Reitmans (plus and petite plus) and anyone else who carries a plus size line, COMFORT FIT  is NOT where it is at!!!!!
Not to mention, not all plus size people want to wear a dark blue or black jean in a friggin boot cut. So please make jeans with more options for heavy people. We have feelings too. We want to feel and look stylish/trendy too. Can not do that if the only pants I can get over a size 10 only come in one style. Dark or darker boot cut. Then to add insult to injury... the comfort fit!  One thing to make comfort fit an option, but to make it the only option and take aways zippers? I'm not impressed.
As a society, isn't it better for everyone if you do not fuck with people's emotions and self esteem? And if you're sitting there saying "well just lose the weight".. save me the effort of getting off my chair to smack you and go run your head into a wall for me. Not everyone who is heavy is capable of losing weight. Or has the means to do so.  I'm fortunate enough I'm capable, however for those who are not, please stop making these comfort fit as the only choice. Sure have them as an option, but not the ONLY OPTION.
The saddest thing is, all these plus size stores carry the same line. Doesn't matter where I go, I will find the same pants just with a different label on it.
You wouldn't think so, but zippers and pant styles are important to a person's self esteem when it comes to weight.
It makes more sense to me now, more than ever before why I've seen heavy people wearing moo-moo's.  Those are not flattering neither, but I understand how they ended up with that being their only option for clothing. As the fashion industry doesn't think of heavy people as people anymore.  Seems their attitude is more of a "they'll wear what we give them, cos they have too."
Shitty attitude.
....Is February, March over yet? I'm exhausted of being Bitter Betty lately. I wouldn't be though if people in general just stopped doing stupid things.
New Curator :-{
The curator from the museum called me this morning (before 8am) he actually back-doored the voicemail so my phone never actually rang. I just happen to notice the icon that I had a new voicemail... sneaky.
As it turns out, he's applied for a job with another museum for a management position. :-{
He asked if he could use me as a reference. At first I was impressed, then he explained that the position required him to have two community volunteers as references as well.  I'm still a little impressed, as I've been there less than a year, (far less than some of the volunteers who give many more hours) been working with him only a few months. He hopes to return to our museum at a later date (few years) as a manager, not the curator though.
He apologized repeatedly. Made me giggle a little, but I understand.  Right to the bitter end he's looking out for those who work under him.  He asked if I'll continue to stay on at this museum.  I was honest and said I had just lost a little interest in it, as he makes coming to work enjoyable. He's consistently professional, flexible and encouraging for you to discover what gets you excited,  and if that means you're transferring into another venue of the museum, he's happy for you.
I advised, I'd give the new curator a chance, but if it stops being fun and pleasant, then I will not stay, but would return if he returned... (No pressure ;-) )
I would love to walk to up to Crazy C with the last few comments he made.  "Now that we won't be working together, we can meet up for drinks once in a while."  Of course I'm all over hanging out with people I work with and their spouses. (As long as they're not crazy) I learned that the staff would love to do this more often in fact. They just need someone to suggest it. When I mentioned to Crazy C that I would love to do this when I first started working there, Crazy C often strongly voiced to me that I was a volunteer and that they (f/t staff) do not mingle outside of work with the volunteers. (Add a raised snarky bitter voice when she says this) Even though I mentioned she did, with me.....  We all know she is a nut, and that my intuition of her needing others to dislike me more than they dislike her was indeed true.  Sad really.
This is bitter sweet.
However I'm thankful for the opportunity & the option to get to know him and his g/f outside of work.
The Big One.
Vancouver coast/Island is not ready for the Big One... and why would we be?
Not to sound all bah hum bug etc, but this coast line will not survive that kind of mass destruction.   People ask me more often recently, if I have an emergency kit, and I always reply. NO.  (I do for small emergencies, not global ones)
The chances of any of actually being home and within reach of emergency supplies, will be next to none.  I'll probably be on the train somewhere commuting to/from work or social event.  It bothers me that our gov't encourages us to be ready, have shoes beside your bed etc.. as predicting the big one will happen when we're all nuzzled and tucked into our warm beds and within arms reach of some emergency supplies.
I'm sorry but reality isn't like that. I mean it's great to have a kit around for black outs, snow storms, etc but the Big One? None of that stuff is going to help you.
People say, they should move somewhere else etc til it passes. Think about it? What good will that really do? You move from one area that is known for sitting on an fault line and surrounded by dormant volcano's to moving to hurricane valley?  There is a natural disaster waiting no matter where you live. You learn to adapt and prepare yourself the best you can for living in whatever area you're in.
Yes, the Earth if unhappy with us and the way we've treated her. Fair enough.  I just want to gov't/media to stop implying we can stop it from happening. We can not. We will not. Just like our life cycle has a beginning and an end, so does the planet we inhabit.
I'm not saying you should go jump off a bridge or anything or should be sulking in a woes me the world is going to end.... But we should all be embracing everything this planet has to offer us until it's becomes too late. The good, the bad, the ugly.
I guess the short of this post I've meant to say, do not take anything for granted. Your life, your loved ones, your friends, your job etc. Tell everyone you care about that you care/love/like them...often.  I wouldn't want to leave this world leaving anyone unsure how I felt about them.
Live a rich live folks, it's the only one you have. Make the best of it.
Day 10 - Not horribly uncomfortable.
It's Day 10 on Accutane.
I'm adjusting to my lips and nose being raw, and the increasing thirst.
So far so good.  I have a small periods every few days where I feel completely wiped, which end  up with me in bed before 9pm. (what am I 80 yrs old suddenly?)
I'm sure I'm jinxing it right now by saying anything.. if this is as bad as it gets... easy!
Surely, I just shot myself in the foot with that statement.
I've upped my water intake to 8 x 8oz cups of water a day while at work. Easy. (helps to drink hot/warm water...not cold) Day 10 -  I'm up to 16 x 8oz's a day.
That is just shy of 4 liters a day, you're only recommended to drink up to 2 liters. That will help immensely with this drug being processed by my liver.  When I do not drink the minimum of 8x8 I feel it.....everywhere.  On average, I'd say I'm sucking back 2-2.5 litters a day.. some more, some less on other days. Not to mention the cup of coffee I have in the morning and glass of orange juice or pop (couple once/twice a week) in addition.
Must be careful not to overdose on the water intake though. Seriously, it is possible to ingest too much water. Water Intoxication. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication your kidneys can process about 15 liters of water/fluid.. so although it's hard to get, it is possible.
Stating the Obvious
Are you kidding me with this?
This is the perfect example of stupidity that drives me up the wall.
Do people listen to themselves when they talk? Seriously.
Our mail usually gets delivered to the warehouse. The warehouse shipper usually goes thru all the mail, takes out what he wants to deliver and gives me the rest.  If you're taking one piece of mail for Mr X, why don't you take them ALL!!!!??? But that is not the point.
Today the mail was delivered to the front office. No big deal at all.
The shipper felt the need to walk a quarter of a kilometer to the front, stands in front of me and says, "The mail got delivered to the front today.".... *blink*.........I shit you not with this... I bit my tongue hard, and still couldn't manage to keep my mouth shut.
I replied: "Did you walk all this way to tell me the obvious?" (As I'm sorting thru the mail).
I should have replied how I really wanted too. "No way! How did that happen? Is that what I'm sorting thru right now!? Thanks for coming all the way up here and clearing that up for me!! I was wondering and starting to worry as to what the hell all this stuff with postage on it was!!!".....*blink*.....
It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact this person and others, interrupt my day on a regular basis with stupid things like this all.day.long.
.......maybe I'm getting my period.
Royal Bitch & Crazy C Update
You read it. I'm a royal bitch these days. Not to everyone, specifically to one person.
It's almost like he's taunting me to tear him down a notch or two every time he does something stupid opens his mouth.
Island Guy (read back from April -Sept 09 I think) lives just a few short blocks from me since moving here in 09. He's grown up considerably since moving here and realizing that the mainland isn't forgiving. (this is saying a lot when you read the following) We're adults here. People do not care you're sensitive, business is business.  He regularly mixes business with the wrong kind of pleasure.
Eg: His boss says they're thinking of considering him for the sales department in another part of the country. He hears "Promotion, more money" and goes and gives notice on his apt, spends money he doesn't have, solely based on hearsay. I've told him repeatedly, until it's in writing, believe nothing. This company screws him over more often that I'm surprised he just doesn't drop his pants and wait for it. Or leave and get a job elsewhere?
Same with women. This one pisses me off.
He bitches endlessly and cries (sorry men, boys who cry cause they did not get their way is NOT attractive - there is a difference between crying for a valid reason and because you're a petulant child) He is all too often all woes is me about his love life. His biggest mistake...asking me for my opinion.
He knows I will not hold his hand. In the beginning I use to use more tact, now, I do not give a flying fuck, cos he only asks so someone will feel sorry for him, when he has no intentions of trying to improve the things that piss women off.
Eg:  He asked me why women won't date him more than once.  He asks for the brutal honest truth as his "big sister" (dude you're 28 you should have some of this basic shit figured out), so that is what I gave him. Based on the stories he's shared with me.
1) Being sucky cute (in voice and mannerisms) I've advised him many many times that women do not like men who think/trying to be cute as a way to get by is acceptable.  Seriously. You get into a fight and you're 100% at fault, reply by text or phone and the only thing leaving your mouth is a giggle followed by "we're good" is not okay. Just cos you say it, doesn't make it true. Avoiding the issues at hand by being cute or talking like a baby do not make things okay... it just aggravates it more.
2) He doesn't listen. - If a girl (his last g/f) says lets go for a hike. She means, "let's go for a hike" He hears, pack a picnic and make it all romantic etc.. mean while the g/f is dressed and ready to do the grouse grind.  Then wonders why the g/f is annoyed with him and breaks up with him a few weeks later for more of the above being repeated.
3) This one bugs most people, not just g/f's etc.
If anyone contacts you via the phone, you'd think most of the world's population would want a phone call back. Nope... if you call him, he'll reply on your facebook wall.  If you text him, he will  reply via email. If you write on his facebook wall, he'll text you.
He'll do the opposite of however you've contacted him.
I've told him this is the a large part of the reason I do not invite him out anywhere, cos I'm not chasing him down to confirm plans. If he's serious about staying connected with his friends and dates, he needs to pay attention to the basic common sense of communicating.
Needless to say, he was less than impressed with my replies.  "Not impressed, seriously not impressed" he says.  That was 14 days ago. I've emailed, called, texted and fb him. No reply. When I did finally get a hold of him last night, his first reply to me when asked why he hadn't returned any calls etc was "we're good".
UGH!!!!!
NO WE'RE NOT!  You're not!  He goes on to explain that he's mad at me.
I couldn't help but laugh.. which pissed him off even more.
My response was... "Are you mad at me cos I gave you the answers you didn't want to hear, or cos it's true? Do you think you would be mad if it weren't true? Hate to say it, but you have a whole lot more growing up to do."
I might not have handled him with the most care. I find myself time and time again having less and less patience for him. He's careless with his health (allergic to all nuts and let all his epi-pens all expire 3 years ago) Careless with his bills. (he pays $800 all inclusive) Bitches that he's always broke and struggling, and in the same breath, talks about how he wants to move to another part of the city his rent would be $800-$1000 not inclusive. In his head he doesn't see the argument?
His parents are partly to blame for all this.  They've time and time again bailed him out and he's become dependant on it. "oh it's okay, my parents will take care of me"... Dude you're almost 30 and then you wonder why women do not want to date you?  Island Guy moving the mainland was a huge step in cutting the apron strings, and he has grown up a bit (if you can believe it)
I guess what I'm trying to tell myself, it's not my job to parent or sister him.  He asks, I tell him and he throws hissy fits.  As I get older I'm finding myself less patient to deal with blanten stupidity. That makes me a bitch and a bad friend.  Although on the other hand, my other friends who have troubles I handle much better. Maybe it's cos they are not running home to their folks, or whining about it constantly. They voice their laundry, get suggestions then actually do something about it. Whereas Island Guy just runs home to his parents (who are actually lovely people btw) and hides.
The past year and a half since breaking up with Douche bag, I've become a bit of a hard ass. I need to find that balance of tact, kindness and patience, without being a royal bitch. Or I might find myself without friends.
I don't want to seem all McJudgey, but I am finding it hard to maintain friendships with people who seem to like living their lives as though they're still teenagers.
I think my compassion censor is broken. I have a shitty attitude.
Moving On......Crazy C
Friday I was talking to Elizabeth Singleton that I had a gut vibe things at the museum would not be running as smoothly as the last time I was there with Crazy C.   I tried to brush it off, cos I really do not care what that lunatic thinks or does anymore.  (ya that was harsh) I walked in the front door to be greeted with the death stare and curled lip from hell I've ever seen.  I say Hi, and keep walking past her.
For the few hours I'm there, things move along without incident.  Then I started to notice, any time I had to walk into her area, she would get up go into the other room, which I just came from, and look like she was looking for something. It became obvious to several people in a short period of time.
At one point I looked up, smirked at the curator and found a reason to walk into her area, again.. the same thing... she almost jolts out of her chair and walks into the room I just came from. Everytime.  It was hard not to start laughing out loud. The curator finally walked over to her and whispered (even though its tight quarters we can all hear the whisper) to her that he felt she was walking around too much for things that were not relevant every time I got up etc..   She stayed put the next few times I had to grab a book etc. but the looks she would shoot me. I would just smile at her and go about my business.
She must be out of her mind if she thinks a few dirty looks and making it clear it's uncomfortable in my presence is going to stop me from coming to the museum. Okay it might after awhile, but I refuse to let events in her brain or saga she thinks is going on, to effect my job and time there.  Part of me really wants to just fuck with her now.  I won't cos who knows what kind of crazy will surface.
When I left, I said "bye, have a good week" with a pleasant none bitchy tone, only to be greeted with a very nasty snarl (which a few people saw) and what I  swear was her about to give me the finger, instead she just waved as though she was shooing someone away.. you know that move right? the back of your hand is waving shoo shoo go away...
Oh Crazy C... you are indeed a nut.
Sex. That is all.
Now that I'm sans sex til October, all I can think of, are the lousy lays I've had in my life time and would gladly take any of them right now over having nothing.... Okay, well maybe not. Bad sex is not better than having none. I do not care what you say, it isn't. It just leaves you disappointed, unsatisfied, and a little grrrrr.
Wow I just made that sound like I've slept with a lot of men. I haven't, but I do keep the roster on rotate... Safer and easier that way for me.  Especially when you just want to get to the point. No pre-date, just show up, drop your pants and get to work. No need to drop mine, I'll just meet you at the door naked, or in a robe just so you have something to unravel. ;-) But that's only if I like you on a friend level.  If I don't, well you're probably falling off the bench anyways, and I haven't called on you in forever.
Times are changing. The roster has become slim pickin's. As most of these men are grown, with jobs, lives, children and now have g/f's. What? I don't sleep with wankers...Okay I do, but I don't make a habit of it. Any man I've been involved with is a catch in some way shape or form.
I'm starting to think the two I have on the go are full of it. Both said they were okay with the arrangements we have, sans sex, and thought it'd be fun to do other things as an option.   I'm calling bullshit right now.
Ya I understand they might not be thrilled about not getting to dig for oil, when they can get the whole thing elsewhere... Bitter Betty here... I want to play damn it!!! (add a small foot stomp and pout with that) hmph.
And if one of you suggests I have some self love. I might hurt you. At this point, that will no longer cover the needs I need dealt with.
I want need to get my socks rocked off.....just saying.
Tsunami Alert for the Pacific Coast(Vancouver Island & California)
As you've all heard by now (unless you live under a rock) that Japan has been rocked to the core with an 8.9 earthquake. Aftershocks of 7, something... ouch.  I really really really hope it looks worse than it is. But unfortunately that is wishful thinking.
Earthquakes that occur in/on/around Japan, Hawaii, and Alaska effect my coast.  It puts us at risk to get an Tsunami again. We had one in 1964.  You can read about it here and here. And for those of you that know nothing about Canada let alone BC, tip tip of the Alaska Panhandle sits 3/4 of the way along BC.
Right now Vancouver Island, and parts of California are on full alert.  Military friends are currently sitting in Pudget Sound in the USA at risk. Even though they are at sea (safest spot to be) they are on alert to assist others if anything should happen. :(
Living in Vancouver we're not so much at risk but our rivers would/could raise in some areas. But it is the Island and my beloved Tofino that are at the most risk.
Be safe guys. xo
Five Hole For Food - Hockey/Food Banks - Amazing!
Facebook - Five Hole For Food
Five Hole For Food Website
Twitter - Five Hole For Food
A co-worker is heavily involved in this charity and is looking to obtain a small sponsorship between $1000 - $2500 or a contra deal. If  you or anyone you know are interested, please contact me, I'll pass along the proper contact infor.  If not, all I ask is that you tweet, blog, or tell a friend if you believe in this cause. :)
Five Hole For Food is a registered society and started as a hockey trip across Canada but then road hockey enthusiast, and pilot of the trip Richard Loat, thought that it could be so much more. The concept of incorporating some sort of charity to benefit local communities led to a discussion with a friend and thus the name “Five Hole for Food” was coined. From there it has evolved into a social media effort of networks and partners to create a cross country food drive where hockey fans play a variation of the game and the local community benefits.
After putting the word out to bloggers and hockey fans alike, Richard rounded up a team of bloggers in the local cities who have come on board to support the cause. Five Hole For Food features fans of a variety of Canadian hockey team sand the trip stops in each NHL city as well as in cities that don’t have an NHL Franchise. The trip unites fans of the Canucks, Canadiens, Leafs, Oilers, Flames and Senators for one cause in the name of the greatest sport on earth.
In the trip’s first year it spanned a period of 10 days; the first ball dropped in Montreal on June 29th and then travel west hitting Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Edmonton, and Victoria before the last ball dropped on the final game in Vancouver. The trip has now expanded to include Atlantic Canada and the 2011 tour will see added stops in Saint John’s, Halifax, Charlottetown, and Saint John. The trip starts June 23rd and will end on July 9th after another whirlwind few weeks of hockey, blogging, and tweeting! This is a coming together of fans and of teams as we partner with hockey teams in each of the local cities at the NHL, AHL and ECHL level to promote a food drive the likes of which this country has never seen before!
Photo Shoot
I really need to buy a usb cord for my phone so I can upload the photos of the photo shoots from work.
It's nothing too exciting after you've seen one, and half naked models hurrying up and standing around while photographers decide if the shot was good or not.  Hair and makeup messed with touched up again, clothes changed. They've finally got into the habit of using an idea board of outfits and accessories already laid out and put together, and the order of shots etc... wow imagine that, we're functioning like a professional set now!  There were a couple that were complete disasters (in my opinion). We've gone from a crew of 20 to a crew of 6. woot! Ya I'd say that they have a routine now.
Although it's a whole other ball game when lookbooks are shot off site, and I have to arrange to have everything shipped from third parties to another location, and gawd forbid they forget something.
It's good in the sense it keeps me busy, but seriously get a friggin check list and check it twice!
Know how many times the steamer is left behind? Really? You can not have a photoshoot without one, so how is it they forget it everytime!?
On the production side of it, it's good to see what goes into producing a lookbook (fashion catalog).
Thankfully we always have the same team doing the shoots and they're super nice. It doesn't hurt the men are handsome. :) What? I work in an office that has 6 ugly men and 50 women of all ages.... I need some eye candy damn it! And it's not beneath me to flirt slightly. Nothing inappropriate, but I will smile bigger than normal. :)
It's completely different and much smaller than having a Disney movie or a Kit Kat commercial being filmed in your space during work hours.  Those are huge huge productions.  If you rent Space Buddies (part of the airbuds movies) that is filmed at my office. The 6 puppies they used were so friggin cute! The staff was amazing! You'd never know there was a crew of a couple hundred people in and around your space. They were that professional.  Not to mention the perks! The caterers would come around and feed those of us that were most inconvenienced by them, seems like every hour, (work areas'... I always have to move to a different floor)  They make sure we're taken care of. :)
Stylish Blogger Award - You've been Tagged.
My Dating Hangovers nominated me for this Stylish Blogger Award. Awwww.. Thanks for the shout out.
Now about this award; being a recipient of the Stylish Blogger Award is a great exercise in fun and mutual back-scratching. Of course, as with any of these blog awards, there are rules. The “rules” that come along with this award designation are (1) I must divulge seven things about myself, and then (2) pay the Stylish Blogger Award forward to about seven other blogs.
7 Random Things About Me
1. I love watching men shave their faces, and sometimes doing for them. Something so intimate about it.
2. Love the smell of fresh cut grass, cedar burning, BBQing in the winter and the air after a good Spring rain.
3. I use to compete at a Provincial level in gymnastics and dance.
4. I can not whistle.
5. I'm weaken by my empathy for those I love and random things like crying at commercials, good love stories, weddings, my friends success's and failures.
6. I snore like a bear when I'm sick. (so attractive)
7. I love to be a cuddle slut, but hate PDA's.
For the people I'm passing this award onto:
In no particular order.....
and cause I like to break the rules....
Winter Can Suck It Already
UUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH
Nothing I hate more are the people who run from their cars to the office front door (less than 30 feet) and feel compelled to tell me how shitty and cold it is outside..  wwwhaaa whhaaa whhhaaa of fucking whhaaaa
You were outside (going from your house to car, car to office) for a total of what, 2 mins and you think you're entitled to bitch about how yucky it is?
Please child.  Take transit, miss a bus, have a bus be too crowded, get splashed (on bad days) by a big truck or lose your umbrella, and by the time you get to work you're more than entitled to have a little foot stomp about how shitty it is outside.
This morning was no exception. Love this girl, but my gawd, really?
She parks in a carport at home. The only time she is exposed to the elements is walking from car to office.. seriously, it takes less than 10 seconds to walk it... today, she worn rain boots for that long walk. Brought a change of clothes cos it was "raining" outside, after driving to work in her warm car and not having her personal space invaded by rude, smelly people, spilling their coffee on you while trying to read the paper at the same time.   UUUGGGHHHH.
Don't get me wrong, our transit system is pretty good all things considering the amount of ground it can cover. But for the love of gawd, don't complain to the transit user about how shitty things are when you drive.
When I have a car, I've always been cautious about saying anything about the weather (unless it's snowing, cos then everyone is fucked) to people who take transit. Especially those who might be fetching my coffee in the morning. (that was an old job, I get my own now)
I know being a Bitter Betty doesn't suit anyone and knowing you can not see me as I write this, I'm actually smirking at my computer right now. That special smirk when someone truly stupid crosses your path, and you think "good thing you're pretty, or your hair is really nice today"... Hoping one day they all have to take transit when the next monsoon passes thru. :) Nope not evil. Not at all.
Here is my advice to you today Dear Readers; If you drive, please keep your two bits to yourself about the weather when talking to co-workers who take transit. Not everyone is as nice as me and you might find a loogie or a sneeze in your coffee......just saying.
Livid although not surprised.
I have so much to say right now and due to the fact its work related (not with me directly) I'm weary about writing about it in it's entirety as I've been reading about people losing their jobs for slander and defamation of character when you write about co workers, even when names are changed etc.
I'll do my best.
A former employee was recently let go, and whilst she sense it was coming, she welcomed it. She wasn't happy. Not with the job itself parse, but the way she was treated by a few individuals. Her management.
In my opinion, her lack of abilities, and/or lack understanding within her own department were a direct result of improper training. Like most people you work with that you are not close too, you're friendly towards.
She asked all the questions, explained she did not understand and asked for additional training.
Skipping all the middle stuff, getting to what has me so livid today.  Months after the fact, it has been brought to her attention the real reason behind her dissmisal.  Not a direct result of her actual inabilites, but for the sheer fact she wasn't liked.  It happens. Then again that is not what has me pissed.
Information was relayed to her that her team leader thought she was immature, unproffesional. Others were informed NOT to be friends with her or their jobs could be on the line.  WTH!!!!???
Are you kidding me?
How professional is it that a team leader is sharing this information with an employee? There's professionalism at it's best.  Then to dictate who you can and can not delvelop friendships with or else?
It's rude and extremely unprofessional
One in every bunch I guess. I looked at this particular person with a bit of admiration. She is always put together, smiling, polite (to my face) and never has spoke ill of anyone in my presence and seem to exude professionalism, always.  I guess the caddiness is everywhere.
Ya ya I'm quilty of it myself at times, (I usually blog about it than speak to someone) but even in the wake of Crazy C, I handled that as professionally as I could and only discussed it with a mutual co worker cos it was neccessary. There are people I work with who's pure existance irritates me, but I try my damness not to treat them poorly while at work.  I'm not perfect, I am making a concious effort to treat everyone fairly.
Sometimes business is unfair and callous and you must do what is best for the company. Leave it there when you're done. Do not continue to discuss it with other management unless neccessary, let alone employees within that department.  Hope they all know this is how they will be treated upon their departure from the company.
Do unto others. It's a hard lesson to learn and even harder to practice.
btw my spell check on blogger isn't working.
Day 3 - Already dry.
I started the Accuntane Friday night.  The Dr. mentioned once I started, I would get dry, fast.
I'm thinking in a few weeks time. Not almost immediately.  My nose is the victim.
It's dry as it is with the winter months now add this.  I bought some cheap nasal gel before hand as recommended, but will have to find another solution as it doesn't work worth shit on the Accutane dryness. It worked great just in general though. I used Polysporin and Vaseline last night.. instant bliss.
I'm already noticing my eyes, and mouth drying up a bit, which is increasing my thirst.  Although it's nothing uncomfortable. I was proactive/preventative a week before I started this, hoping that it would help.
I'm going to be the sole person that increases revenue for the companies that produces moisturizers this year.
Thankfully there are wonderful products out there specifically for people taking Accutane.
Sure its more expensive (not by much maybe $10 -$15 more than usual) but for the level of comfort it will provide me compared to spending money on cheaper stuff more often... this is one of those cases, you get what you pay for.
My lip balm is $15 a tube, but you only need so little of it, and wow!!! I'm hooked. Once I'm done the cycle, I'm going to continue to buy this stuff!!! My lips are so soft.
Body moisturizer recommended is about $26-$36 a small bottle.. :(  I'm going to wait til I'm scaly to dish out that kind of cash on body products when the cheaper version is by Chetaphil Eczema. (face wash, moisturizer and body moisturizer etc).. its runs $15-$24 a TUB! Much more doable.
Oh did I mention while on this, you're not allowed to wax!?? Hmph. Ya ya I'm not having sex, but that doesn't mean no one is going to see it, and besides, I like to be groomed at all times anyways.
So 3-4 days in (I take the pills with dinner) and so far, so good.
:)
How was your weekend?
Friday, 4 March 2011
Day 1 down 182 days to go.
Today is Day 1 of the next 183 days of sans sex & alcohol.
....that is all.
Best Boss Ever
It turns out all my friends, family and blog-o-sphere family on the Island are indeed okay.  Still waiting to hear from a couple but I've seen them update on facebook and there was no call for help.  : -`D
As you know I'm looking for a p/t job. Limited hours, weekends only.  My boss, and a few upper management types that I work for are all my references.  They always say lovely things about me. :) Or they fake it and it still benefits me anyways. lol
Best Boss Ever Award goes to DW!!
She sent me a job link application for a p/t job with Statistics Canada Census 2011. Nice!!!  Doubt anything will come of it, but ya never know. The position is effective March 7th - end of August. P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Granted it's not the most ideal job, but the pay is decent for p/t work.
That's all I have for now.
Right now I have an awesome view of a end to end rainbow from my office.
The day is looking better.
Vancouver Island = 160 km winds (100 mph)
Hope all my Victoria/Nanaimo friends, family and blog-o-sphere family are prepared for the 160 km winds heading their way tonight... Please text/email me in the morning and let me know you still have your roofs.
Whether you want to call it a hurricane, a cyclone, or a typhoon, it all depends what part of the pacific ocean you're on. Regardless, Vancouver Island is in the way of a very big one on its way.  November - January is usually our wind storm season.  Highs of 60-100 kilometer winds etc.
Tonight, the Island is expecting winds upwards of 120-160 kilometers throughout the night. For you folks to the south of us.. that is the equivalent of  80-100 mph.
Humour me in the morning and let me know all my local readers, friends/family in real life and the blog-o-sphere family are all okay.
I'm really not a sour puss.
As much as I can get down, feel all woes is me, and think my love, and sometimes social life sucks donkey ass, I've been reminded today by a coworker who sees it completely different. I'm pretty damn cheery on the outside. I'm only sour on the inside.
He says: "I come to say HI every morning, and through out the day, cos you can always get me out of a funk with your wit and dry sense of humour. Plus you call it as you see it, and you know your music better than most."   The music comment I take much pleasure in. I like music, all of it. Jazz, folk, metal, rock, pop, Motown, bluegrass and some country.  Not just the music either, but who produced it, mixed it, etc  We can sit and talk about music forever, and I always learn something. I do not claim to know a lot, but what I do know, I know well. (side note: I do not want to learn how to produce, mix, or master anything. I think it would take away what is magical about music to me).
It occurred to me, that I do indeed have an upbeat, fun disposition about myself in person, public, at work etc. Regardless what I may be feeling on the inside, (hello, reason for a blog) on the outside, I'm not the sourpuss I sometimes think or feel I am.
So in case any of you were wondering if I'm walking around being miserable to everyone face to face... I am not. I'm friggin pleasant, sweet and made from sugar and spice and all things nice...most of the time.
:-)  :-)  :-)
