No Luck

Back in November you'll remember I bought a new pullout couch, a kingsize bed and a tv from a g/f.

I've given the TV away to a transitional house as it was toooooo big for my apartment and was slightly mislead on it's model. (not a new lcd flat screen, but a rear projection)

Since I've got the bed, I've never once laid in it and had my body say "aaaaahhhh".  It's too firm. Way too firm. (I'm waking up more often now than I use too) And too big. Not big as in it doesn't fit, cos it does. It's too big for my 5'2 singlehood frame.  I'm swimming in it! And without a spouse, it's not nearly as much fun as I thought it would be.  Not to mention the aches and pains I'm in now... damn new bed.

Every time I talk to SR, she mentions how she misses the bed etc.. So I called her today and offered it back to her.  Just my luck, the timing was off by a weekend. They just purchased a new kingsize. :(
So I'm selling it for what I paid for it. $400 all bedding included.  Not bad for a bed less than 4 years old.

I'm just going to have to suck it up and pay full price for a bed that suites my proper needs etc.
And I'm going to downsize to a Queen. At least I know I wont be swimming in that one.

On that note, I do not think I'll be buying any more furniture from friends.
No matter how great the condition of it is.

However, the pullout couch is staying put, I LOVE that thing!

  1. I want a new couch. Hubs and I bought a new couch and chair maybe a year ago from a 'discount' store.... BIG mistake. This couch, you seriously sink into until you're almost into the next room. And NOT in a good way.

    Have to save some pennies......

  2. I've decided to keep the bed and find a foam topper for it to soften it, cos I believe it will be close to perfect then.

  3. Sounds like a good plan, I would say from experience that the feather bed toppers are not the best - they shift and get lumpy but the foam ones are pretty good. Good luck with that.

  4. S&P - I'm allergic to all things with fur and feathers.... but I've heard that about feather beds etc. I had a foam topper on my last bed but it only came as large as a queen, which was slightly smaller than my double bed... not sure how that works, but it did the job.

There is The Foam Shop in Burnaby but I'd rather not pay $300 for a foam topper if I dont have too, then on the other hand, it beats shelling out $1000 for a new bed right now.

  5. Dude, that's a great idea! I can't believe I didn't think of that! You can get a memory foam topper at Wal-Mart or even try Home Sense. WAY cheaper than $300!
