R.I.P. Derek K. Miller. You'll be missed.

Derek K. Miller at Penmachine passed away yesterday. At the young age of 41.

Read his last post. Beautiful.
Wishing the best for his family and young girls.

The world is down one great man.
Much Love xo

Disclaimer: you must have tissues ready when you read this. Take the time to read the 138 and growing comments. Extremely touching.

If you happen to hit a link to get to his blog and it won't come up... 3 million visitors is why.

UPDATE: I went to Mr. Ho's Chinese for lunch. One of Derek & families favorite places. In a small way, it was a way to honour him. I was feeling a wee bit foolish to be sobbing like a child over the news that Derek had passed away. I did not know him in person, but like many others, considered him a blog friend. Even more foolish, reading the blog and comments while at work manning the front desk.
(allergies I tell ya, allergies).

In other more eerie news: As I was updating this, a song on my podcast come on. Starts off with a harmonica, and I thought, this feels like Derek, as I smiled. (he was a musician too), it has a sad but a special tone to it.... I looked it up, "Body In A Box" by City In Colour.  Seriously?

  5. A few local newspapers (The Province, The Vancouver Sun, and 24 hours free newspaper) all covered a piece on him.

The site has crashed a few times from the overwhelming traffing of condolsences being sent.

When things calm down for his family, all those comments will be a great thing to read.

@Kas - glad you were finally able to read it.
